Client context

The business context.

A bank reviewed every employee expense claim before approval. The approach added effort and delayed processing across its expense-service operations, despite the use of a common Concur platform.

Improvement required a change in control logic, not another platform replacement. The business needed to focus review effort according to claim value, expense type and compliance risk, while bringing the new rules into daily operations.

The work

How the engagement was delivered.

  • Connect the control design with operating requirements

Steered alignment on risk-based review using claim value, expense category and compliance behavior. Connected the business rules with the expense-processing service and its existing technology.

  • Coordinate phased implementation of the new rules

Steered the introduction of automatic approval for lower-risk claims and selective review for other claims. Coordinated the operational change around the revised review approach.

What changed

Faster reimbursement with lower processing costs.

The change reduced the cost of processing expense claims and shortened turnaround times. Employees received reimbursements sooner, and review capacity was focused more selectively. The outcome came from the revised operating controls on the existing platform.
