Consumer products · Case study
Creating a technology baseline for a consumer-products business.
A consumer-products business reviewed applications, data and infrastructure against its business processes to define technology priorities.

Client context
The business context.
A consumer-products business was reviewing a fragmented technology estate. Application coverage varied across business processes, data was maintained in more than one place, and interfaces and manual workflows complicated the movement of information.
Application decisions could not be separated from data quality, infrastructure condition and operating responsibilities. The business needed a consistent baseline to distinguish immediate constraints from the broader changes required in its target landscape.
The work
How the engagement was delivered.
Assess applications against business processes
Prioritized business processes and mapped their current application support. Developed a proposed future application view to make capability gaps and opportunities for simplification explicit.
Review data architecture and governance
Examined data standards, interfaces, lifecycle responsibilities and master-data management. Identified issues behind duplicated maintenance and manual handoffs, alongside the ownership needed to address them.
Connect the application view with infrastructure
Reviewed the infrastructure inventory and operating arrangements, including lifecycle, provisioning and resilience considerations. Brought these constraints into the wider assessment rather than treating them as a separate technical exercise.
What changed
A business-aligned baseline and proposed target view.
The assessment connected business-process priorities with application, data and infrastructure findings. The resulting baseline and proposed target application view provided a basis for subsequent investment and design decisions, connecting the changes needed in systems with their data and operating dependencies.
