Client context

The business context.

A hotel group operated fragmented purchasing processes across several technologies. Manual work and inconsistent adoption limited control over supplier commitments, approvals and payments.

A global platform alone would not establish consistent purchasing behavior. The program needed common policies, segregation of duties and interfaces to the surrounding business systems, supported by adoption across the organization.

The work

How the engagement was delivered.

  • Make purchasing controls part of the delivery scope

Steered alignment on the global purchasing process, approval controls and separation of responsibilities. Connected the policy requiring a purchase order before invoice payment with the platform rollout.

  • Coordinate integration and adoption

Brought the Ariba delivery work together with integration into finance, workforce and tax systems. Kept user adoption and the information needed by buyers and suppliers within the program’s scope.

What changed

A global rollout with stronger purchasing control.

The program completed the Ariba rollout and established more consistent financial controls. Invoice accuracy improved, duplicate payments were avoided and supplier payment queries decreased as transaction information became more accessible. Independent steering connected these operating requirements with technology delivery.
