An acquisition spanning business and IT.

A bank acquisition in EMEA brought together retail and business customer relationships across multiple banking products. The integration required more than a transfer of systems: products, customer relationships and operational processes had to work within the acquiring bank’s environment.

The challenge

A migration with constrained system access.

The acquired bank relied on an externally operated core banking platform. Limited direct access to that environment constrained the available migration options and created dependencies beyond the integration team’s control.

The program therefore combined voluntary customer migration with negotiations to obtain the access needed for further technical integration. Business and technology decisions had to be coordinated as those constraints evolved.

Scipio & Partners worked across the business and technical streams, from technology due diligence through execution of the post-merger integration. Our work connected the assessment of technology dependencies with product mapping, customer migration and the testing strategy.

  Mapped products between the banks and worked through their implications for customer migration, processes and the target technology environment.

• Customer migration and access

  Coordinated voluntary customer migration while progressing discussions on direct system access and the technical migration path.

• Testing strategy

  Developed the business and technical testing strategy around mapped products and migration plans, so readiness could be assessed across the integration streams.
